MINSTRY OF COMMUNICATION, TECHNOLOGY AND INNOVATION (MOCTI)
The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting dates back to the colonial period. It was established to gather and disseminate information on Government activities and programmes. In 2007, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting was renamed “The Ministry of Information and Communications” MIC, in a bid to widen its scope and activities related to information and communications.
In order to enhance the role of Communications, Technology, and Innovation as pivotal elements in service delivery and to fortify digital transformation in the public sector, the President took the initiative in 2023 to separate Information from Communication. This led to the establishment of the Ministry of Communication, Technology, and Innovation (MoCTI).
Following this development, the Ministry requested the technical expertise of the Public Sector Reform Unit (PSRU) for a Management and Functional Review that will carve the roadmap to guide the re-branding and reformation of the Ministry.
VISION STATEMENT
To serve as a vibrant communication, technology and innovations hub that provides strategic leadership in the creation of an enabling environment that enhances service delivery through the formation and implementation of effective and efficient policies and programmes that promote socioeconomic transformation and development.
MANDATE
To provide strategic policy guidance and direction over the Communication, Technology and Innovation landscape through strategic coordination and collaboration of communication, technology and innovation to ensure effective and efficient service delivery to the people of Sierra Leone.
MISSION STATEMENT
To provide affordable, sustainable, accessible and reliable communications, technology and innovative services to the people of Sierra Leone and serves as a reservoir for technical knowledge through policy, research, planning and coordination of communications technology and innovation to accelerate socioeconomic growth to enhance service delivery.
