MINSTRY OF LANDS, HOUSING AND COUNTRY PLANNING (MLHCP)
The mandate of the Ministry of Lands, Housing and Country Planning is to ensure effective land management and administration in a sustainable manner, ensuring equitable access to and control over land, ensure effective planning of towns /cities and providing affordable housing with the view of alleviating poverty and promoting economic growth (Sierra Leone Gazette No. 21, Vol.CXXXIX of 30th April, 2008).
MISSION
To contribute to poverty alleviation, food security, environmental sustainability and enhance economic development, through effective land management and administration to enhance a balanced pattern of urbanization and affordable housing for sustainable development in Sierra Leone.
VISION
A livable, well-integrated and competitive nation, in which economic growth is inclusive, and urban development is resilient and sustainable with secure tenure of land and housing.
STRUCTURE OF THE MINISTRY
The Minister is the Political Head of the Ministry assisted by a Deputy Minister. The Permanent Secretary is the administrative head and there are four directorates namely: Housing and Country Planning; Surveys and Land; GIS and Remote Sensing; Policy Planning and Project Development.
