MINSTRY OF TECHNICAL AND HIGHER EDUCATION (MTHE)
The Ministry of Technical and Higher Education (MTHE)was established in 2018 to provide the enabling environment to build the capacity of individuals with the relevant knowledge and skills to meet the social and economic needs of families, communities, and the society. MTHE oversees all higher educational institutions and strives for excellence, professionalism and integrity in tertiary education in Sierra Leone.
MISSION STATEMENT
To promote access to quality tertiary and vocational education through appropriate policies and legislation as well as skills development for the advancement of education in Sierra Leone.
VISION STATEMENT
All Sierra Leoneans have equal opportunity to quality primary and secondary, Technical, Vocational and Higher Educational that enables them to participate in public life, contribute to national and global economy and fulfil their potentials
As a key institution in the Government’s education for development drive, the MTHE offers opportunities for students to access institutions of higher learning through a government Grant in Aid and is also working on a student loan scheme. To promote good governance in education, MTHE has created an online platform through which students can access international scholarships through a transparent screening process.
