NATIONAL COMMISSION FOR PPRIVITIZATION (NCP)
The National Commission for Privatization established through the National Commission for Privatisation Act 2002 with the objective of serving as a policy and decision making body with regards the divestiture and reform of public enterprises. This enterprises reform programme gives high priority to:
Divesting a wide range of activities presently in the domain of Government that can be operated by the private sector, and
Promoting private sector participation in large public enterprises performing a crucial economic or social service.
The National Commission for Privatisation (NCP) is responsible for the reform, supervision and privatisation of public enterprises. The work of the NCP is not limited to privatisation, as reform plays a vital role in the restructuring of public enterprises by improving their financial and operational performance and driving efficiency through the organisations to ensure they are commercially viable. This will in turn attract direct private investment – both foreign and local.

The Chairman and commission members are responsible for the policy and decision making whilst the Secretariat of the Commission is responsible for the implementing the commission’s policy on divestiture. The Secretariat is headed by the Executive Secretary.
