SIERRA LEONE ELECTRICITY WATER REGULATORY COMMISSION (SLEWRC)
The Sierra Leone Electricity and Water Regulatory Commission (EWRC) was established by virtue of the Sierra Leone Electricity and Water Regulatory Commission Act No. 137 of 2011 to formulate, implement, issue monitor quality and compliance, provide tariff guidelines, issue licenses and implement regulatory frameworks for the safe, secure, affordable and reliable supply of water and electricity in Sierra Leone. The Commission also protects consumers from unfair treatment by utilities, through monitoring of compliance to standards and regulations and provision of the highest quality of services to consumers.
The overall mission of EWRC is to regulate the provision of the highest quality of electricity and water services in accordance with government laws and policies, standards and international best practices in support of sustainable and orderly development.
The Commission is led by a Board of Commissioners headed by a chairperson. The Commissioners are appointed from the following institutions: Sierra Leone Institute of Engineers, Sierra Leone Labour Congress, Sierra Leone Consumer Protection Agency with others having technical expertise and relevant knowledge in the areas of electricity and water.
