The Sierra Leone Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency is the government entity established by an Act of Parliament under the SMEDA Act No.11 of 2016.

 

MANDATE

The Agency’s core mandate is to promote a conducive business environment, including an efficient and effective service delivery network, in order to empower and develop Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) for growth, productivity and competitiveness.

The SMEDA Act also gives the Agency the mandate to formulate and review policies to facilitate the integration and harmonization of various public and private sector initiatives, for the promotion, development and regulation of MSMEs. Further to that, the agency is also charged with the responsibility to coordinate the implementation of development programmes for MSMEs across all related MDAs and donor partners. The agency acts as the central point of reference for research and data dissemination as well as provides business advisory services to MSMEs and entrepreneurs throughout the country.

Promote the formation and development of capable SMEs and work with stakeholders to foster the emergence of Innovative, Sustainable, Competitive and resilient SMEs for Job creation, value addition and economic growth in Sierra Leone.
