UNITED NATIONS POPULATION FUND (UNFPA)
UNFPA, the United Nations sexual and reproductive health agency, is a principal actor and advocate that works to improve the health and well-being of all Sierra Leoneans, especially women and girls.
UNFPA has been operating in Sierra Leone since 1971. We provide the Government and other partners with comprehensive technical support to implement programmes and improve knowledge on sexual and reproductive health; gender equality; population issues; adolescents and youth.
MANDATE
To promotes the right of every woman, man, and child to enjoy a life of good health, equal opportunities, and contribute to the 2030 Agenda for sustainable development.

To end unmet need for family planning; end preventable maternal deaths; and end gender-based violence and harmful practices against women and girls.

UNFPA 8th Country Programme for Sierra Leone (2025-2030)
The UNFPA 8th Country Programme for Sierra Leone (2025-2030) is designed to support Sierra Leone’s vision of becoming an inclusive, green middle-income country by 2039. Aligned with the Medium-Term National Development Plan (2024-2030) and the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (2025-2030), the programme is aimed at ending preventable maternal deaths, ending unmet need for family planning, and ending gender-based violence and harmful practices. The country programme prioritizes gender-transformative approaches and investments in data and evidence to advance gender equality, empower young people, and support achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030.
