WORLD HEALTH ORGANISATION (WHO)
The UN World Health Organization (WHO) has been supporting the Government and people of Sierra Leone since 1961 when Sierra Leone became a member state of the organization.
In line with the priorities of the Government of Sierra Leone, WHO over the years has supported the Government to fight disease outbreaks and pandemics, improve reproductive, maternal, new-born, child and adolescent health, strengthen capacities in public health security and emergencies, reduce morbidity and mortality from major communicable and non-communicable diseases and strengthen the overall health system.
VISION
The vision of the World health Organization is a world in which all peoples attain the highest possible level of health.
MISSION
To promote health, keep the world safe and serve the vulnerable, with measurable impact for people at country level.
MANDATE
To act as the directing and coordinating authority on international health work within the United Nations system.
