ACTION AID SIERRA LEONE
Action-Aid charity was established in 1972 and in 2003 established the ActionAid International federation with head offices is in Johannesburg, South Africa and hubs in Asia, the Americas and Europe.
ActionAid started operations in Sierra Leone in 1988 and is currently operating in 9 out of 16 districts in the country such as in the Western Area, Bombali, Kambia, Kono and Bo town cities. ActionAid’s strategy in Sierra Leone is focused on building international momentum to achieve social justice, gender equality, and to eradicate poverty.
In practice, this means working closely with people living in poverty and exclusion, civil society organizations and social movements. At the grassroots level, Action Aid programmes provide emergency relief and campaign for women’s economic rights, tax justice and climate justice and implement programmes on Education and Governance.
Action Aid operates in Western Area Urban/rural, Kambia, Bo, Bombali and Kono in the following sectors, Education and Governance.
