CLINTON HEALTH ACCESS INITIATIVE
CHAI was founded in 2002 with a transformational goal to help save the lives of millions of people living with HIV/AIDS. Today, along with HIV, CHAI work with partners to prevent and treat malaria, tuberculosis, hepatitis, and cancer, accelerate the rollout of lifesaving vaccines, reduce maternal, infant and child mortality, combat chronic malnutrition, and strengthen health systems. CHAI is operating in over 30 countries whilst more than 80 countries have access to CHAI medications, diagnostics, vaccines, and other health tools.
CHAI started operating in Sierra Leone in 2015, supporting Government to rebuild its health systems, improve access to lifesaving contraception and increasing health worker skills to save women’s lives and reduce unintended pregnancies.
Currently, CHAI is implementing an integrated approach to maternal and new born health to ensure that complications from childbirth are addressed in Western Area Urban/rural, Bombali and Bo.
