SAVE THE CHILDREN SIERRA LEONE
Save the Children Fund, commonly known as Save the Children was established in the United Kingdom in 1919 to improve the lives of children through better education, health care, and economic opportunities, as well as providing emergency aid in natural disasters, war, and other conflicts.
Save the Children began working in Sierra Leone in 1999 in response to the war. Initial focus was on child reunification during the war. Save the Children helped children to find their parents or family members and helped those children that had been forced into the fighting as child soldiers.
Currently, Save the Children is providing counselling and support services to children and families affected by the crisis, and will distribute thousands of sanitary and hygiene products including soap, water treatment kits and hand-washing equipment.
