(FOCUS 1000)
The Facilitating & Organizing Communities to Unite for Sustainable Development (FOCUS 1000) is a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) investing in the first 1000 days of a child’s life as this period represents life threatening diseases such as such as diarrhea, malaria, malnutrition, pneumonia, and HIV.FOCUS 1000 has a network of over 6000 religious leaders, 10,000 traditional healers, 4,000 market women and 180 community-based organizations across Sierra Leone and have established the Kombra Media Network comprising over 50 media practitioners who promotes issues of women and children.
FOCUS 1000 key intervention areas are: promotion of maternal and child nutrition; reduction of teenage pregnancy; and improving the quality/utilization of basic services.
