ISLAMIC DAWAH TRAINING CENTER (IDTC)
Islamic Dawah Training Centre (IDTC) was established in the Tonkolili district to implement Social Welfare programs in 1998 by a group of Muslims to train Islamic scholars on counseling war victims. The IDTC expanded their mandate in 1999 after the rebel invaded Freetown to include the provision of emergency relief activities.
With support mainly from Muslim Aid in the UK, the Islamic Dawah Training Centre currently operates from its headquarters in Mile 91 in Tonkolili district targeting the victims and communities that have not benefitted from support of other aid and humanitarian organizations.
These include though not limited to: orphans, destitute children, disabled, widows, unemployed, old men and women without discrimination. The support to these groups consist of provision of food items, Medical supplies, used clothing, cooking materials and cash to disaster victims. A training center has been established by IDTC to provide skills training programmes to reduce unemployment.
