THE SIERRA LEONE NATIONAL FIRE FORCE (SLNFF)
The Fire Service was established in 1920 under the establishment of the Freetown City Council called the Freetown Fire Brigade. Its existence has been under the Government of Sierra Leone till this present date and is called theNational Fire Force. The Fire Service is under the jurisdiction of the Laws of Sierra Leone Acts 1957 and 1980 and is located at Alfred Joseph Momoh Street at the Central part of Freetown. This old building at A.J. Momoh Street Headquarter location is a one storey building that house administrative department, number of fire engines and equipment, fire service personnel to man fire engines to carry out disastrous job.
In all developed or developing countries, the Fire Force being an organ whose primary role is to defend the nation against unwanted fires, some of which may lead to disastrous consequences of immense proportions, exists as a vital component of the nation’s security architecture.
MISSION
To enhance an effective management and protection of fire disaster against human resources and property and hence reduce poverty and contribute to economic growth, through efficient firefighting, search and rescue and disaster preparedness mechanism in the country.
